Coinbase has announced the upcoming launch of a Bitcoin reward-based credit card in partnership with American Express. According to the exchange, the card will allow users to earn up to 4% back in Bitcoin for every purchase.
The Coinbase One Card, which will run on the American Express network and be directly connected to user Coinbase accounts, will be released at the end of 2025. The rate of cashback will be different and will depend on the amount of cryptocurrency a user has on the platform. The increased Coinbase balance holders will get bigger BTC rewards.
The genesis block of the original Bitcoin blockchain-inspired the new card. Coinbase emphasized that the visual aesthetics indicate the innovative nature of the crypto industry. The company noted that reward rates are hierarchical in order to promote the longevity of assets in its ecosystem.
Coinbase’s Strategic Push to Integrate Crypto with Daily Spending
The decision to connect spending to Bitcoin rewards in the Coinbase case is part of a broader plan to make cryptocurrency a part of the daily financial routine. The company plans to close the gap between the conventional finance sphere and the crypto economy by rewarding recurring purchases with digital assets.
This effort follows as Coinbase has been increasing its service provisions beyond trading. The exchange has been striving towards the goal of ensuring that it improves the user experience through the introduction of financial products that are not only functional but also incentivizing. The Coinbase One Card will allow users to spend in fiat but also earn Bitcoin passively.
Recently, the CEO of the firm, Brian Armstrong, indicated that it is possible that in the future, Bitcoin will be used as a reserve currency globally. His remark is in line with the fact that Coinbase is trying to establish Bitcoin as a mainstream financial asset.
The next card is expected to enter the tightening crypto-card market. Nevertheless, its merger with the American Express network and the reward system threaded on crypto holding tiers may offer a clear edge.
Details about the Coinbase One Card will be revealed later, ahead of its launch. The company has already ensured that the particular reward structures and terms would be communicated at the launch of the product.
