Metaplanet, popularly known as the Japanese MicroStrategy has announced its plan to assist Bitcoin reserves with the investment of $745 million. Following MicroStrategy’s approach
The company has successfully raised capital and bought over 1700 Bitcoins in the last 8 months. Additionally, Metaplanet also disclosed its target to acquire 21000 Bitcoins in a span of two years in its 2025-2026 plan.
Metaplanet Announces Historic ¥116 Billion Capital Raise for BTC Purchases
Metaplanet shocked the world with the acquisition of a staggering $116 billion which amounts to 745 million dollars. This was achieved by issuing 21 million shares, which carried a 0% discount.
These funds will be directed towards increasing their Bitcoin assets. Just like MicroStrategy, Metaplanet is looking to aggressively acquire Bitcoin and, has received authorization for the 13th to 17th series of stock warrants, after a board meeting held on January 28th.
The firm has also transacted a Stock Issuance Rights Purchase Agreement with EVO FUND. Announcing this deal simultaneously with Bitcoin crossing the $102,000 threshold and increasing its price by 3.5%.
Metaplanet stock price surged dramatically owing to the addition of 1762 Bitcoins purchased after May 2024. The stock advanced 3.10% to 4,120 levels on Tuesday alone and has gained 2347% over the previous year.
2025-2026 Mega Bitcoin Buying Plan
Metaplanet, a firm with a stark prominence due to its Bitcoin Treasury, has set forth aggressive plans for their Bitcoin Bitcoin acquisitions from 2025-2026. The company aims at ending this year by increasing bitcoin acquisition fivefold, from 2000 to 10,000 BTC.
Subsequently, they aim for 21,000 BTC by the year 2026. They intend to achieve 21,000 BTC by the end of 2026. These targets were shared in a recent announcement by Simon Gerovich, Metaplanet’s Representative Director.
Key Milestones Achieved
According to Leahclair Dymon, Director of Investment Strategy at Metaplanet, the firm recorded striking milestones achieving 309.82% Bitcoin yield in Q4 2024 from 41.7% in Bitcoin yield for Q3 2024 last year.
Currently Metaplanet holds total of 1,761 BTC at an average purchase price of ¥11.85 million which translates to over 27.7 billion yen. This investment surpassed the 100% mark which is already giving over 27.7 billion yen.
The company made an aggressive move when they surpassed 30,000 shareholders. In JPY terms, the trading volume grew by 430 times year-on-year. Since adopting the BTC standard from April 2024,
Metaplanet transformed became a prominent name in the marker with a boost in market capitalization of close to 7000%, making it top 15 around the world for having the highest BTC holdings among publicly listed companies in the end of the year 2024.
