Miami is getting more and more into crypto each year. Many major crypto conferences have already been held in the city, and since Art Basel is coming for the first time after lockdowns and quarantines, a lot of NFT events will take place soon. Majority of ambitious NFT – artists have already shown their presence in the city and one new star is rising – Maria Tokareva aka Miss Frais.
Women earn 70% of bachelor of fine arts and 65–75% of master of fine arts degrees in the U.S., though only 46% of working artists (across all arts disciplines) are women. So Maria Tokareva is the one of not many female artists receiving recognition and working in the field.
Maria hasn’t always been an artist. She tried herself in modeling and fashion. Years ago, when she moved to Miami, she was fascinated by Wynwood art district – the center of creative people, artists, performers. Back in 2015 she sold her first art piece for $5000.
In 2016 Maria was selected to be a featured artist with XContemporary Art fair for Miami Art Basel week 2016, her first solo show. That was a huge win for young aspiring artist.
At the same time Maria started to get into tech space more and more. She has participated in the North American Bitcoin Conference, Art Decentralized Nikki Beach, and Blockshift Mana Wynwood.
Recently she decided to combine passions for tech and art and become an NFT artist as well. Her first collection is called “Miss Frais” and contains 6969 sexy and provocative NFTs powered by Solana blockchain. As the conception on the official website says, “Miss Frais believes in magic and for her every day is the best day ever! She loves nature and being naked, ice cream and beautiful sunsets, she is here to remind you of the beauty of life and inspire you to believe in yourself”.
Maria, as an artist, adds: “I’d like to remind people that magic is real, give them the power to believe in themselves; when we do that, we start living at peace with ourselves. Miss Frais is a representation of who I am”.
The collection consists of the portraits of the girl – young, happy and naked. According to Miss Frais website, the launch of the collection is happening on 26th of October, when everyone could mint the NFTs and collect the pieces made by Miami artist.
Maria has received a certificate of appreciation for her artistic contribution to the city from the Miami Dade County office and the Mayor Francis Suarez himself for two years in a row.
