The Russian Energy Week Forum is taking place in Moscow. Participating in the event are the largest international companies and leading industry experts. Within the framework of the forum, the Minister of Energy of the Moscow Region Leonid Neganov announced the launch of a pilot project on calculating electricity consumption using blockchain technologies. If the project is crowned with success, the experience will be applied in the entire Moscow region.
The ministry has already supported one of the local enterprises, which will develop and test the blockchain accounting system. According to Neganov, regulators want to understand whether it is possible to use such promising technologies when calculating the consumption of electrical energy.
The minister assured that the test results will appear within the next year. The positive results of the pilot project will lead to the gradual introduction of technology in the entire Moscow region. However, Leonid Neganov noted that innovations should not conflict with the existing control system in order not to cause accidents, therefore, their use does not tolerate haste and must be tidy.
