The second annual NFT awards, BAYC is expected to be the biggest winner
On the second day of the event, NFT.NYC hosted its second annual NFT Awards Ceremony, sponsored by OpenSea, APENFT and NFT.Kred. Its awards cover more than 30 fields such as visual arts, games, fashion and marketing, and the well-known projects Bored Ape Yacht Club, artists Beeple and Takashi Murakami have won awards.
Among them, Bored Ape Yacht Club won a total of four awards, including the best sales collection, the largest collection, the most creative NFT project, and the best NFT business model. Launched in April 2021, the project achieved $2 billion in historic sales just over a year later, and its owners include celebrities like Justin Bieber, Tom Brady and Stephen Curry. Artist Beeple, whose individual works sold for a high price of US$60.25 million, and well-known Japanese artist Takashi Murakami won the Most Popular NFT Artist and Best (Traditional) NFT Artist awards respectively.
In addition, the once-popular Wolf Game also performed very well in this selection, winning three awards: Best New User Experience Game, Best Game Community, and Best Blockchain Game Company. The digital horse racing platform Zed Run and the My Curio Cards series won the most-traded collection and the top-traded art collection, respectively.
The various awards presented this year aim to recognize different media, blockchain and industries. It is worth mentioning that the award for the highest number of collections from Asia is the only award that is limited to a geographic region. The Murakami Flowers Seed, which surpassed $100 million in trading volume within a month of its launch, took the honor without a doubt (with a bit of a bespoke taste), the 11,664 that Japanese artist Takashi Murakami launched in March after a one-year delay.
