Ripple has announced a strategic initiative to invest in Japan’s growing Web3 ecosystem by offering up to $200,000 in grant funding to startups building on the XRP Ledger. This effort targets the development of decentralized finance (DeFi), tokenized real-world asset (RWA) platforms, and digital payment solutions within the country.
According to Ripple’s official release, Web3 Salon is leading the program with the help of Ripple and is supported by the Asia Web3 Alliance and also by the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO). Grants created for the XRP Ledger will offer financial, technical, and business assistance to developers just getting started.
Christina Chan, as Senior Director of Developer Growth at RippleX, is determined that the company will foster XRPL in the long run. Ripple’s efforts in Asia, XRPL Japan and Korea Fund is now the main channel for grant funds.
The startups chosen for the program will get more than just financial support. They will gain the expertise and training that help them improve their knowledge and skills in the industry.
Mentorship, Networking, and Regional Support Drive XRPL Ecosystem Growth
Besides money, Ripple and Web3 Salon want to organize four major events in Japan that will take place before March 2026. There will be pitch sessions, workshops on technology, and panel discussions attended by investors, developers, and people involved in regulation.
Its goal is to help Web3 developers communicate with critical stakeholders, promote the following rules, and grow globally. To boost its involvement, Ripple gets involved with local startups in Japan to enhance its role and help develop the blockchain sector there.
Ripple has already made its mark in Japan due to its partnerships with many important financial companies. Many people consider the partnership with SBI Holdings to be one of the most notable in the area. SBI Remit uses RippleNet, and SBI VC Trade offers the opportunity to trade XRP.
At the same time, different Japanese businesses have chosen to include XRP in what they offer. Japanese firms Mercari and Open House Group are among those now welcoming XRP as a payment option.
Ripple’s participation in this way provides more exposure for its digital finance activities in Asia and helps the XRP Ledger be applied in practice.
