Shiba Inu community members have made a significant statement in the ongoing Shibarium governance vote, casting over 120,000 BONE tokens to decide the future of SHIB and BONE burns. The proposal, currently hosted on the official Shiba Inu website, presents several new models for burning tokens collected through Shibarium gas fees.
According to the latest figures, the most favored option involves a conditional burn model based on the price of BONE. If BONE trades at or below $2, the tokens themselves will be burned. If it exceeds $2, SHIB will be the one removed from circulation. This approach received overwhelming support, collecting more than 103,000 BONE votes.
Another option, splitting the burns equally between SHIB and BONE, came in second, with over 17,000 BONE votes. A full SHIB-only burn model attracted limited support, with just over 750 BONE cast for it. A fourth option, proposing a 70-30 split in favor of SHIB, saw less than 90 BONE used in support.
The total vote count reached 85 at the time of the update, indicating strong engagement from holders willing to use their tokens to shape the ecosystem’s future. Voting power is determined by BONE holdings, reinforcing the token’s governance role within Shibarium.
Shibarium’s Burn Strategy Faces Crucial Shift as SHIB Burn Rates Decline
This vote comes as SHIB’s daily burn performance shows a dramatic drop. Data from Shibburn reveals that only 313,491 SHIB tokens were destroyed over the past 24 hours, a decrease of more than 95 percent. Weekly burn numbers also declined by 70 percent, with just over 34 million tokens sent to dead wallets.
Previously, a portion of BONE collected as gas fees on Shibarium was converted into SHIB and then burned. The current vote introduces broader flexibility, offering models that could shift or balance burn efforts between the two tokens based on market conditions.
Project developers Kaal Dhairya and Shytoshi Kusama were tagged in the official announcement by the BONE X account, though Kusama has stated that the community now drives key decisions.
Conclusion
The strong response to the vote highlights growing involvement from Shiba Inu holders in shaping the network’s direction. As burn dynamics evolve, the results could redefine how SHIB and BONE interact within the Shibarium ecosystem.
