Vitalik Buterin the co-founder of Ethereum emphasizes Bitcoin’s simple protocol design as a prime strength, which he believes Ethereum should implement. Through a recently released blog update, Buterin outlined technical modifications that would simplify Ethereum at its core to achieve sustainability and lower complexity.
According to a post on his official X account, Bitcoin’s operational structure is straightforward enough for skilled high school students to comprehend. The protocol offers maximum simplicity because this feature enables independent developers to use the system and minimizes security risks. Buterin explains that the advanced level of Ethereum technology makes further maintenance and protocol-level participation difficult.
During his conversation, Buterin emphasized that Ethereum contains architectural elements that currently seem outmoded. The Ethereum Virtual Machine uses a 256-bit structure and implements multiple precompiled contracts. Buterin outlined two architectural components that serve existing outdated purposes while slowing down the system’s operation.
Vitalik Proposes Five-Year Roadmap to Integrate Simpler Framework
In his blog, Buterin presented a multi-year strategy to guide Ethereum toward a simplified system design approach. He recognized that the immediate benefits would not be obvious, but the system overhaul’s future advantages would ensure its worth as a solution. The planned system adjustments seek two goals: minimizing upkeep expenses, lowering significant bug possibilities, and increasing core protocol developer interaction.
The proposed design simplification by Buterin also relates to Ethereum’s future development according to the 2025 roadmap and Pectra upgrade. Petra will deliver an improvement of ten times in data availability on top of layer 2. According to him, network expansion requires equal focus on layer-1 resilience alongside scalability and security enhancements.
Buterin states Ethereum requires some core Bitcoin features to achieve the best results. According to his view, simplicity enables better security and transparency and stronger decentralization. Easier protocols will allow more developers to engage actively in Ethereum development since the system will become more approachable to their needs.
The Ethereum frontman suggests that this change in design philosophy will keep the network strong and adaptable throughout its lifetime. An essential advantage of Bitcoin for Buterin is its straightforward design, which gets translated to X when he shares it on the platform. The basic design structure delivers various benefits to users. It is time to implement these advantages so that Ethereum can grow.
