Godsunchained.com is a free-to-play tactical card game that gives players true ownership of their in-game items. Led by the former game director of Magic The Gathering: Arena, the game focuses on competitive play, which means players must strategically outsmart their opponents by building decks that are able to combat a wide variety of tactics. In Gods Unchained players completely own their digital items, giving them the freedom to trade, sell and use their cards any way they like – just like owning real, tangible cards.

How Do Start Playing
Simple! Set up an account by clicking ‘Sign in’ in the top right of this page, and then by following the ‘Register’ / ‘Create an account’ link. Once you’ve set up your account, you can download the game launcher and start playing! To start you off, you’ll be given a free collection of 70 individual cards (140 in total) that are sorted into six decks. This is known as the Welcome Set* and it’s designed to help new players get a handle on how the game and each god works.
You’ll also be given an allotment of Core cards that you can use to customise/personalise these premade decks. To begin with, you’ll have a few game modes to choose from. Solo Mode sets you against a computer opponent, it’s the perfect place to learn how to play at your own pace and try out a few decks. In Constructed mode, you’ll face other opponents online, which means you’ll gain experience points that will help you level up and unlock card packs.
Last of all, there’s Ranked Constructed. This is the ultimate way to play, as you’ll not only be playing against real opponents and level up, but you can also unlock prizes, rise the ranks and earn Flux for card crafting in the Gauntlet of the Gods (more on this last point here). We’re always looking at new opportunities to optimise game modes and bring interesting content, and we’re looking at reviving modes like Sealed Deck and Draft in the future.
Play To Earn
Play to Earn (P2E) means you can earn cash just by playing the game. In Gods Unchained, this is seen through the ability to earn in-game items that you can sell for real-world cash. The Play to Earn journey is as follows:
- By playing games you unlock packs that give you digital cards. These are Common Core cards and are not minted to the Ethereum network.
- By winning games in Ranked, you earn Flux. Flux is a crafting tool that allows you to make Common Core cards more valuable. (See ‘What is the Gauntlet of the Gods?’ for more).
- Once you have enough Flux, you can head to the Forge in the game launcher and fuse duplicate Core cards together to create higher quality cards. These become minted to the Ethereum network and now have real world value.
- The final step is to trade these cards in the Marketplace for real world cash. From there, you can buy new cards with your current earnings or convert it to your own currency to spend however you want.
- Repeat!
IS GODS UNCHAINED REALLY FREE-TO-PLAY?
Yes! All new players are given 70 individual cards (140 cards in total) that make up the Welcome Set for free. These are prebuilt, editable decks that give players an idea of how the six gods differ from each other. They are also given an allotment of Core cards on top of this to start off with which can be used to edit decks. But don’t let these contain your play-style! There are far more ways to play than these, and you can unlock packs and cards just by playing the game.
Godsunchained.com Leveling up by winning (or losing) in Ranked mode will unlock card packs, allowing you to customise and expand your decks. Core cards earned in-game aren’t on the blockchain, but you can fuse cards together to increase their quality which will mint them to the chain. Once cards are on the network, you can then trade them for cash in order to gain the cards you are seeking to complete your deck! For more, check out blog post on Flux & Fusing.
IS IT PAY-TO-WIN?
It’s very possible to work your way up the ranks without spending a cent via the process outlined in the ‘What is Play to Earn?’ section. In fact, a few of our most vocal players have done just that (side note: join our community and chat with players in Discord to learn about their experiences!) but the economy is an important part of Gods Unchained and shouldn’t be overlooked. Although it’s true that some cards are prohibitively more expensive than others, a large part of balancing the game is aimed at ensuring you don’t need to spend lots of money to have a highly competitive deck.
Because cards are tradable, it’s also possible to purchase only what you need from other players to build your dream deck.Compare this to other digital trading card games where you’re required to open hundreds of packs just to find that one card to complete your meta. At the end of the day, you can always sell your cards if you decide to switch metas or even (don’t leave us!) quit. The choice is yours.
WHERE CAN PLAY GODS UNCHAINED?
Gods Unchained is currently available on computers running Windows or MacOS. We’re currently working on bringing the game to mobile devices and tablets so watch this space!
